Employing the scanning simulation method, we study the tricritical behavior (at the Flory /theta/ point) of self-avoiding walks with nearest-neighbors attraction energy /epsilon/(/minus//vert bar//epsilon//vert bar/) on a square lattice. We obtain /minus//epsilon///ital k//sub /ital B/T//sub /ital t//=0.658/plus minus/0.004, where /ital T//sub /ital t// is the tricritical temperature and /ital k//sub /ital B// is the Boltzmann constant. The radius of gyration /ital G/ and the end-to-end distance /ital R/ lead to /nu//sub /ital t//(/ital G/)=0.5795/plus minus/0.0030 and /nu//sub /ital t//(/ital R/) =0.574/plus minus/0.006, respectively. We also obtain /gamma//sub /ital t//=1.11/plus minus/0.022 and /mu//sub /ital t// =3.213/plus minus/0.013, where /gamma//sub /ital t// is the free energy exponent and /mu//sub /ital t// is the growth parameter. Three estimates are calculated for the crossover exponent /phi//sub /ital t// , based, respectively, on /ital G/, /ital R/ and the specific heat /ital C/: /phi//sub /ital t// (/ital G/)=0.597/plus minus/0.008, /phi//sub /ital t//(/ital R/)=0.564/plus minus/0.009, and /phi//sub /ital t//(/ital C/)=0.66/plus minus/0.02. Our values for /nu//sub /ital t// and /gamma//sub /ital t// are close to the Duplantier and Saleur exact values for the /theta//prime/ point, /nu//sub /ital t// =4/7=0.571... and /gamma//sub /ital t//=8/7=1.142 ... . However, our values of /phi//sub /ital t// are significantly larger than the exact value /phi//sub /ital t//=3/7=0.42... . This suggests that the /theta/ and /theta//prime/ points belong to different universality classes.
