/sup 14/C( p,n)/sup 14/N and the isovector tensor component of the effective two-nucleon interaction

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)

Angular distributions have been measured for the /sup 14/C( p,n)/sup 14/N(0.0 and 3.95 MeV) reactions at E/sub p/=35 MeV. The differential cross sections for the two 1/sup +/ states (0.0 and 3.95 MeV) have been compared with antisymmetrized distorted-wave Born-approximation calculations based on phenomenological and realistic effective two-nucleon interactions. In contrast to recent analyses of spin-sensitive measurements, the /sup 14/C(p,n)/sup 14/N(g.s.) data definitely favor the inclusion of an isovector tensor interaction.
