Enhancement of CS in the high-velocity wing emission in NGC 2071

Journal Article · · Astrophys. J., Lett. Ed.; (United States)
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1086/184608· OSTI ID:5936586
High-velocity wing emission in CS and NH/sub 3/ spectra toward the bipolar flow source NGC 2071 are compared. Column densities of CS and NH/sub 3/ in the high-velocity wing emission are comparable, which means that CS is overabundant relative to NH/sub 3/ by one to two orders of magnitude. The large enhancement of CS may be caused by an interstellar shock wave generated by the high-velocity outflow from the central infrared source(s).
