The effect of additional alloying of corrosion-resistant high-chromium superferritic steels with titanium, molybdenum, and niobium on their resistance to 475/degree/: No. 12, (Dec 1987)C brittleness and to intercrystalline and pitting corrosion was investigated. The content and solubility of carbon and nitrogen in the solid solution were determined and mechanical tensile tests were conducted. The onset of 475/degree/: No. 12, (Dec 1987)C brittleness was evaluated by heat treatment simulating industrial treatment. Comparative results for the corrosion rates of the steels in nitric acid, sodium hydroxide, and sodium chloride solutions were analyzed. Quantitative ratios of the alloy metals necessary for ensuring corrosion resistance relative to carbon and nitrogen contents were determined. The dependence of impact toughness, hardness, and strength on the duration of aging at 475/degree/: No. 12, (Dec 1987)C and on the cooling regime was evaluated. Steels 01Kh25T, 01Kh25TB, and 01Kh25MT were recommended for parts operating in aggressive media.
