A plate finite element analysis procedure has been developed to study the growth behavior of two-dimensional delamination in laminated composite plates. The finite element procedure is based on the laminated plate theory which includes the effect of transverse shear deformation and in-plane loading. The classical fracture mechanics criterion of strain energy release rate is used to study the delamination growth.
