Investigation of the (p, n) reaction on /sup 113/Cd for proton energies below 10 MeV

The energy spectra of neutrons from the reaction /sup 113/Cd(p,n)/sup 113/In were obtained for proton energies from 6 to 10 MeV in 1-MeV steps with the use of the time-of-flight technique at the tandem accelerator EGP-10M for neutron-emission angles from 30/sup 0/ to 150/sup 0/. Spectra integrated over the angular range were analyzed according to the statistical theory by using the Weisskopf formula and the conventional Fermi-gas model for the level density. Statistical parameters thus derived depend strongly on the incident-proton energy. Energy spectra were also calculated in the framework of the Hauser-Feshbach model. In so doing the problem of determining the absolute level density was simultaneously solved.
