Chronic 60 Hz electric field exposure induced subtle bioeffects on serum chemistry

Journal Article · · J. Environ. Sci. Health, Part A; (United States)
The effects of 120 days exposure to a high-intensity (80 kV/m) 60-Hz electric field on serum chemical constituents was investigated using 135 field-exposed and 135 sham-exposed Sprague-Dawley rats. Statistical tests performed included Multivariate Analysis of Variance, Univariate Analysis of Variance, and tests of simple effects. None of the 17 serum chemistry assays performed showed statistically significant differences between sham and exposed animals. It was concluded that the exposure to an 80 kV/m electric field for 120 days produced no changes in body chemistry metabolism.
