Phase relations in pseudobinary Ba/sub 2/MCu/sub 3/O/sub 6. 5+//sub x/(M = Y,Gd)

Studies show that Ba/sub 2/YCu/sub 3/O/sub 6.5+//sub x/ can be treated like a pseudobinary oxide MeO/sub x/ with metal framework Me = Ba/sub 2/YCu/sub 3/O/sub 6.5/. An approximate phase diagram was derived by thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis, strain gauge measurements, and annealing at varied oxygen partial pressure.
