Recently scintillating fibers have been widely used as a promising detector for calorimetry and tracking in high energy physics experiments. The authors report on a test of reading out the scintillation light signal from scintillating fiber by using a multianode photomultiplier tube (MAPMT) HAMAMATSU R3384 M256DX. An investigation was made on the spatial distribution of the anode response, effects of a magnetic field on the cross talk and the pulse height of the anode signals of the MAPMT. It has been observed that a magnetic field decreases the cross talk and increases the pulse heights significantly.
