K-nucleon scattering and the cloudy bag model

Conference · · AIP Conf. Proc.; (United States)

The cloudy bag model (CBM) has been applied with considerable success to low energy meson-nucleon scattering. In this talk I will describe in particular calculations for kaon-nucleon and antikaon-nucleon scattering. The main emphasis will be on s-waves with special attention paid to the antikaon-nucleon system in the isospin zero channel where the ..lambda..(1405) is important. In the CBM the ..lambda..(1405) is an antikaon-nucleon bound state and I show that this interpretation is consistent with the antikaon-nucleon scattering in the region of the ..lambda..(1670) and ..lambda..(1800) although ambiguities in the phase shift analysis prevent a definite conclusion.
