Uranyl trifluoroacetate UO/sub 2/A/sub 2/ and its adducts with hexamethyl phosphoric triamide (HMPTA), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) with a 1:2, 1:3 and 1:2 composition, respectively, were synthesized (the two last compounds for the first time). The ability of these complexes to undergo vacuum sublimation was studied. It was shown that the necessary condition for the volatility of UO/sub 2/A/sub 2/ is the presence of a strong neutral ligand. The adducts synthesized were studied by IR spectroscopy using an /sup 18/O tracer in the uranyl and carboxyl groups. The mode of coordination of the trifluoroacetate group was deduced from the reciprocal position of the /eta//sub asCOO/ and /eta//sub sCOO/ bands, and also from their isotopic splitting. The structure of the adducts with HMPTA and DMSO in solution was studied by NMR spectroscopy. It was found that for these adducts, an equilibrium exists between a trisolvate, disolvate and free ligand, which with decrease in temperature shifts in the direction of formation of a trisolvate.
