In December 1972, Westinghouse completed installation of its first complete row of titanium steam turbine blades. These blades have been operating successfully for more than 5 years. The factors considered in the application of Ti to steam turbine blades, the installation of Ti blades, and the subsequent operation of these blades are discussed.
