Method of squeeze cementing a well

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5918879
A well penetrating an unconsolidated formation is treated to prevent flow of unwanted fluids and sand into the well by squeezing a slurry of gravel and oil into the formation through perforations in the well casing, until the pressure increases to just below the fracturing pressure of the formation and then squeezing a small volume of a slurry of cement into the sand pack. After the cement has set the casing is perforated at the desired level in the well. The quantity of cement is controlled, so that it can be penetrated by the perforating device. (6 claims)
