Morrow-Springer trend, Anadarko Basin, target for the 70's

The Morrow Formation (Pennsylvanian) has accounted for an estimated 12 trillion cu ft of gas reserves, mostly on the shelf area of the Anadarko Basin, Oklahoma. The Morrow and Springer formations offer multiple structural and stratigraphic traps in this large sedimentary basin. The Laverty field, Grady County, Oklahoma, is discussed as an example of a deep Springer Sandstone gas reservoir. The trend extends into the Texas Panhandle Area where several Morrow fields are producing. In the Elk City Area, Beckham County, Oklahoma, production is from multiple sand members at depths below 19,000 ft. There is some doubt that wells producing below 20,000 ft will pay out. (14 refs.)
