Separation of transplutonium elements during transport through liquid membranes containing tri-n-octylamine

The membrane extraction of the transplutonium elements by emulsions of the water in oil type was studied. Tri-n-octylamine was used as the transporter, and span-80 as the emulsifier. It was shown that the coincidence of the conditions of maximum rate of extraction and stability of extracting emulsions permits the use of the process for sufficiently effective isolation and separation of the transplutonium elements.
