A Handbook of construction details, using commercially available products, has been developed for passive solar residential applications. The Handbook contains over 150 working-level details, in-depth discussions of basic passive solar principles and systems, appropriate Rules of Thumb for design and sizing, a series of relevant case studies, in-depth reviews of specific passive construction materials, and an extensive bibliography. The Handbook is intended to effectively bridge the gap between the technical state-of-the-art in passive solar design and standard practice in single-family residential construction. A brief outline of the Handbook is given.
