Energy gain and trapping threshold of the counterstreaming electron-beam wake-field accelerator

The energy gain and the trapping threshold of the driven particles (protons or electrons) in the counterstreaming electron-beam wake-field accelerator (CWFA) are investigated. The CWFA relies on the same physical mechanism as the plasma wake-field accelerator (PWFA) but differs from the PWFA in that it uses a relativistic counterstreaming electron beam instead of a stationary plasma as the medium for supporting the plasma waves.
