A unified quantum theory, describing both line center and wings by means of a single expression, is used to calculate the broadening of hydrogen lines. The theory gives overlap integrals in terms of hypergeometric functions. The broadening of Lyman-{alpha} and H{sub {beta}} lines by electron collisions is considered in detail. (AIP)
