High-spin states of /sup 94/Ru and /sup 96/Pd

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)
High-spin states of neutron-deficient /sup 96/Pd up to J/sup ..pi../ = 12/sup +/ have been studied using the /sup 60/Ni(/sup 40/Ca, 2p2n..gamma..)/sup 96/Pd reaction with 140 MeV /sup 40/Ca ions. The weak /sup 96/Pd transitions were enhanced and identified by means of multiple-particle ..gamma..-ray coincidence techniques. The half-life of the yrast 6/sup +/ state was determined to be 11.7 +- 2.8 ns (0.50 W.u.), in disagreement with a previous measurement, and an additional isomeric half-life of 58 +- 5 ns was detected. Simultaneously, the /sup 60/Ni(/sup 40/Ca,..cap alpha..2p..gamma..)/sup 94/Ru reaction was observed to populate new high-spin states of /sup 94/Ru up to Japprox.19h. A cascade of ..gamma..-ray transitions between states of /sup 94/Ru which may involve the excitation of a g/sub 9/2/ neutron was observed.
