Eighth order magnetic moment of the electron

We have evaluated all 891 Feynman diagrams which contribute to the eighth order term in the perturbation expansion of quantum electrodynamics (QED) of the magnetic moment of the electron. Our preliminary result is -0.8 (2.5) (..cap alpha../..pi..)/sup 4/. The theoretical error represents the estimated accuracy of the required numerical integrations. The large error is due to a small group of diagrams requiring very large amounts of computer time to integrate numerically. Work is in progress to reduce this error.
