Backsurge well cleaning tool

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5906879
This apparatus is run on a tubing string for pressure-surging operations. Fluid is in the annular area between the tubing string and the well bore and fluid also is within the tubing string with a packer separating the annulus fluid from the tubing fluid. A first valve body contains means for connecting the valve body to the tubing string and has flapper valve head means normally blocking fluid flow through the first valve body. A first piston is responsive to pressurization of the annulus fluid to shift the flapper valve head to allow fluid flow through the first valve body. A second valve body is responsive to tubing pressure and contains means for locking a seal to isolate the central bore. A bypass on the second valve body is closed by a second piston means. The second piston means is responsive to pressurization of the tubing fluid to move the piston to open the fluid bypass. Means for locking the second piston are on the piston and the second valve body. A cylindrical tubular atmospheric air chamber communicates between the valve bodies for the pressure surging operation. 6 claims.
