This apparatus provides a hydraulic fluid composition adapted for a fracturing of subterranean formations, which consists of 1) an aqueous medium, 2) methyl ether of polygalactomannan gum as a gelling agent, and 3) a breaker additive for subsequent reduction of fluid viscosity. The gelling agent and breaker additive are characterized by a low yield of hydrolysis residue. Thus, the permeability of the fractures is not impaired. 11 claims.
