The conference proceedings discuss operating experience of ehv and uhv dc power transmission lines. The following topics are discussed: (1) environmental effects on electrical insulation voltage breakdown; (2) conductor selection with reference to corona discharges and electric field effects; and (3) electrical protection of the lines due to switching surges and lightning. A separate abstract was prepared for each of the 12 papers presented at the conference.
