Effect of foliar and root treatments of benomyl in reducing ozone injury to pinto bean and cucumber

Pinto beans and cucumbers grown in soils treated with benomyl had reduced leaf damage from ozone exposure. Plants given a foliar treatment but not grown in treated soil did not have the same protection against ozone injury. The results suggest that the mechanism of protection in the soil treatment is an altered physiological response of the plant to ozone.
