Journal Article · · AAPG Bull.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5903725
Drilling activity in eastern and northwestern Colorado was down moderately in 1987 with 1,006 wells drilled in the area, a 10% decrease in drilling from 1,114 wells in 1986. Twenty-three percent of the total, or 227 wells, were exploration tests with a success rate of 22%, about equal to the 21% success rate in 1986. Activity in eastern Colorado focused on Pennsylvanian and Mississippian rocks along the Las Animas arch and Cretaceous formations in the Denver basin. Development drilling in Pennsylvanian sediments continued in the northwestern portion of the state, along with exploration targets in various younger zones. 1 fig., 2 tabs.
