Review of the Oconee-3 probabilistic risk assessment: internal events, core damage frequency. Volume 1

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5903503
A review of the Oconee-3 Probabilistic Risk Assessment (OPRA) was conducted with the broad objective of evaluating the contribution of the internally-generated accidents to the frequency of core damage. The review included a technical assessment of the assumptions and methods usd in the OPRA study. The BNL staff reevaluated the main results of the study within the scope and general methodological framework, including both qualitative and quantitative analyses of accident initiators, and accident sequences which result in core damage. The effect of uncertainties was considered throughout the review process, and the uncertainty bands for the core damage frequency were quantified. 30 figs., 36 tabs.
