Study of the reaction e/sup +/e/sup -/. pi. /sup +/. pi. /sup -/ in the energy range from 640 to 1400 MeV

A detailed study of the pion electromagnetic form factor has been carried out in the energy interval 640--1400 MeV in the c.m.s. The experiment was performed in the VEPP-2M storage ring with the OLYa detector. Improved parameters have been obtained for the rho meson and for rho..omega.. interference. Analysis of the results at (s)/sup 1/2/ >1000 MeV has shown that the behavior of the pion form factor in this region cannot be fitted by the sum of the rho and rho'(1600) mesons. A satisfactory description of the pion form factor in the timelike region is achieved with introduction of an additional resonance rho'(1250) or with phenomenological inclusion of the contribution of multihadron channels of e/sup +/e/sup -/ annihilation to the form factor.
