Experimental investigation on an optically pumped pulsed NH/sub 3/ FIR laser

Journal Article · · Chin. Phys. Lasers; (United States)
OSTI ID:5887858
Six FIR laser lines produced by a pulsed TEA CO/sub 2/ laser pumped NH/sub 3/ system have been studied experimentally. The dependence of the FIR laser output energy upon the pump energy, the pressure of molecular gases, and the absorbtion of the pump energy have also measured. It has been shown that the optimum pressure corresponding to a maximum FIR laser output increases proportionately to the pump frequency offset, and the maximum FIR laser output is observed under the pressure at which the absorption of the pump energy is about 90% instead of 100%.
