This bill was introduced into the U.S. House of Representatives to amend the Solid Waste Disposal Act to require treatment of medical waste. The treatment of medical waste will be regulated by defining the infectious components of the medical waste and specifying the procedures and standards for compliance to be used in rendering infectious components of medical waste noninfectious. Other features of this bill call for onsite treatment, enforcement, and relationship to state law.
