This book provides a succinct analysis of the changing energy markets in Europe during the 1990's. Natural gas is set to become the fuel of choice throughout Europe during the 1990's. This study suggests that within 20 years gas will double its share of the European energy market. It also takes into consideration the upsurge of environmental concern about acid rain and greenhouse gases arising primarily from fossil fuel emission which has coincided with the availability of large quantities of attractively priced gas. The outcome of both these trends will be an increase in gas demand, particularly in the power generation sector where small, highly efficient gas-fired stations will appear increasingly attractive-both environmentally and commercially-in comparison to coal and nuclear power.
