Recent MARK III results on J/psi hadronic and radiative decays

Conference · · AIP Conf. Proc.; (United States)

Recent results from the MARK III experiment on J/psi radiative and hadronic decays are presented, based on an analysis of 5.8 x 10/sup 6/ J/psi decays collected at the SPEAR e/sup +/e/sup -/ storage ring. The status of the xi(2230) is reviewed and the result of a search for a new rare decay mode of the xi(2230) is presented. The complete set of eta/sub c/ ..-->.. 1/sup - -/1/sup - -/ decays is discussed. In this channel, the eta/sub c/ decays preferentially to final states containing strange quarks. In the decays J/psi ..-->.. /..gamma.., ..omega.., phi/X, X = /KK-bar, ..pi pi.., KK-bar..pi.., eta..pi pi../, J/psi ..-->.. K*K..pi.. and J/psi ..-->.. rhoeta..pi.., the vector mesons are used to probe the quark content of the recoil system. Possible evidence for theta(1720), but no indication for the iota(1460) is seen in these final states.
