Modulating the CO/sub 2/ optogalvanic voltage, signals from CO/sub 2/--N/sub 2/--He laser plasma have been analyzed. It is shown that the amplitude of the CO/sub 2/ optogalvanic voltage is related to a change of the population of the CO/sub 2/(00/sup 0/1) level and to the thermal relaxation rates of CO/sub 2/ levels. Dependence of the optogalvanic voltage on the gain, intensity, dynamic resistance, and temperature measured can be expressed by a solution similar to that for the optogalvanic effect of the CO molecule.
