The study was prepared to review past short-term plans for solid waste management in order to ascertain the feasibility of a program best suited for Metro Manila and to set forth an implementation plan. The methodology for the study includes six steps: (1) Assessment of Metro Manila's solid waste generation; (2) Assessment of the Metro Manila solid waste financial and infrastructure situation; (3) Consideration of appropriate alternatives for storage, collection, transportation, processing, and disposal of solid waste; (4) Evaluation of selected alternatives; (5) Development of an implementation plan and options for financing; (6) Preparation of a report providing recommendations and an implementation plan for a Metro Manila sold waste management program.
