Supplying high-octane gasoline will further challenge U. S. refiners

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5869372
Higher demand for premium gasoline, coupled with more stringent regulations on gasoline composition, presents new challenges for refiners to produce high-octane gasoline during the next decade. Marketplace demands, as well as the government scrutiny that follows ever-increasing regulations, demands more product quality monitoring, and possibly even a wider range of composition-related fungible specifications. These constraints may begin to limit the number of players in a given area of the super premium market to those with sufficient octane capacity, adequate control over the distribution system to minimize auto driveability problems, and ready access to oxygenates where necessary.
