A mathematical model of drying for hygroscopic porous media

Moisture migration, thermal transients, and drying rates are predicted for hygroscopic porous materials by quantifying the coupled heat and mass transfer phenomena and phase equilibria. Experiments with ideal materials and wood are used to assess the applicability of the model for the industrially important problems.
