Fluidized bed combustion option

Conference · · Proc. Rocky Mt. Coal Min. Inst.; (United States)

As utilities face the uncertainties of future load growth and energy supply they must evaluate many options to minimize power costs. Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) Combustion is one of the most promising options and was chosen by Colorado-Ute Electric Association for retrofitting to the Nucla Power Plant. Fluidized Bed Combustion is a cost effective and environmentally benign technology that can utilize low grade solid fuels. Fuel suppliers will face new challenges as CFB boilers are placed into operation. The Nucla CFB Project is a major step towards the utilization of Fluidized Bed Combustion and plant life extension.
