The Seismic Engineering Technical Subcommittee of the Pressure Vessels and Piping Division continues its annual publication of Seismic Engineering. This is the fourth in the series, the first issue was published in 1987. There are four chapters in this volume. Chapter 1 deals with seismic damping where the effect of damping on design energy absorbing device to limit dynamic responses, and the development of test data for design verification are topics of current interests. Chapter 2 presents the recent advances in seismic design and analysis methods. Chapter 3 addresses seismic/dynamic testing and analysis of pressure vessel and piping. Chapter 4 provides advanced topics in structural dynamics of design and analysis issues.
