Some observations on the behaviour of a high performance Stirling cycle machine

Conference · · Proc., Intersoc. Energy Convers. Eng. Conf.; (United States)

This paper deals with experimental work carried out on a motored Stirling cycle engine. The phenomenon of gas process asymmetry is discussed and it is shown that its onset and form may be represented by dimensionless groups. Additional clues as to its cause are deduced from different simulations. Finally the occurrence of regenerator friction factor enhancement is described.
