Superdeformed state of the rotating nucleus /sup 152/Dy

A superdeformed state of 152-Dy has been observed in the reaction 108-Pd + 48-Ca to 152-Dy + 4n with a 205 MeV 48-Ca beam. The gamma spectra from the 152-Dy nucleus indicate transitions between rotational states with even values of angular momentum up to I(max) = 60.
