A personal computer-based spreadsheet developed for an energy management program combines accounting and engineering methods to show how tracking electrical energy can keep energy management goals in focus. The author describes how to use the spreadsheet to compare power usage for each of four day types during a period when power usage has changed over the previous year. The spreadsheet has three major sections: exception tables, worksheets, and electrical energy trend graphs. Deviations from forecasted trends indicate changes in the base load can help the utility with load management. 3 figures, 3 tables.
