Title: Synthesis and characterization of a complete series of (MM'(dppm)/sub 2/(CH/sub 3/CN)/sub 2/)(BF/sub 4/)/sub 2/ complexes (M,M' = Ni, Pd, Pt)

A complete series of homo- and heterobimetallic complexes of the type (MM'(dppm)/sub 2/(CH/sub 3/CN)/sub 2/)(BF/sub 4/)/sub 2/ (M, M' = Ni, Pd, Pt; dppm = Ph/sub 2/PCH/sub 2/PPh/sub 2/) have been prepared by comproportionation of appropriate M(0) and M'(II) complexes. These complexes have been characterized by /sup 1/H NMR and /sup 31/P NMR spectroscopy. NMR evidence shows that the acetonitrile ligands are labile for all complexes containing nickel and palladium. For certain heterobimetallic complexes, a second isomer is observed involving one bridging and one chelating dppm ligand while preserving the metal-metal bond. 33 references, 3 figures, 1 table.
