This book examines the subject of ocean management as an area of interest to the United States government. The principal approach was to view this question as one of management of a large, complex public resource. The six chapters deal with federal efforts to control ocean resources, issues of ocean management, types of ocean management, and recommendations for the future. Three appendices detail the Submerged Lands Act and the Truman Proclamations on Fisheries and on the Continental Shelf. No separate abstracts were prepared. (KRM)
