Compatibility of ferrous alloys in a forced circulation Pb-17Li system

Corrosion data have been obtained on ferritic HT-9 and Fe-9Cr-1Mo steel and austenitic Type 316 stainless steel in a flowing Pb-17 at. % Li environment at temperatures between 371 and 482/sup 0/C. The corrosion behavior is evaluated by measurements of weight loss and depth of internal corrosion as a function of time and temperature. Metallographic examination of the materials exposed to the flowing Pb-17Li environment is presented.
