Patent ·
OSTI ID:5850357
A supercharged diesel cycle engine is described comprising: an engine, supercharging means including casing means, rotor means rotatably carried in the casing means and having axially extending passages, intake air inlet opening means and exhaust gas outlet opening means formed in the casing means. Intake air outlet opening means and exhaust gas inlet opening means are formed in the casing means at opposite axial ends of the rotor means. Engine exhaust passage means are connected with the exhaust gas inlet opening means and provided with surging chamber means. Exhaust gas outlet passage means are connected with the exhaust gas outlet opening means and engine supercharged air intake passage means are connected with the intake air outlet opening means. Engine intake air inlet passage means are connected with the intake air inlet opening means. Driving means are provided for rotationally driving the rotor means so that intake air drawn into the axially extending passages in the rotor means is compressed by engine exhaust gas; and discharged into the supercharged air intake passage means.
