Principles of the interaction of dichlorobutenes with diols in solutions of copper(I) halides

The reactions of 3,4- and 1,4-dichlorobutenes with 1,2-ethanediol, 1,2- and 1,3-propanediols, and 1,4-butanediol in the presence of CuCl were investigated under uniform conditions. It was shown that in the case of 1,2- and 1,3-diols, the conversion products of dichlorobutenes are cyclic ethers. The rate constants of the conversion of dichlorobutenes in diol medium were determined, and the mechanism is discussed.
