Multiphase analysis for supercritical extraction

Supercritical extraction has become one of the promising techniques in chemical industry for the separation of complicated mixtures. Multiphase equilibria study including volumetric measurement is very important because the solubility behavior is directly related to the supercritical phase density and state of co-existing phases. So supercritical phase composition data alone are insufficient for complete understanding of supercritical extraction system and successful design of extraction processes. We developed a new high pressure apparatus with sampling capability for composition as well as volumetric analysis. Experimental results for single and multi-solute systems exhibiting complex multiphase behavior will be presented.
