Powerful single-mode radiation by injection locking of a CW dye laser amplifier

The generation of high-power tunable single-mode CW radiation using a dye ring laser amplifier is demonstrated. Weak radiation of a single-mode oscillator was amplified in an injection locked slave oscillator. The authors have investigated the way in which the output power depends on injected power, pump power, and frequency. The theoretical equations for the output power are discussed. A maximum output power of 6.2 W was achieved at 20 W pump power and 0.8 W injected power.
