Effects of carbon dioxide buildup in the atmosphere

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5843505
The extent to which the burning of fossil fuels contributes to the greenhouse effect is examined as well as other sources of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and the effects on climate, environment and society. Physical processes important for climate and climate modeling and the validity of the models is assessed. Particular attention is given to atmospheric warming and the snow-ice effects. The need for international efforts to consider the global effects of carbon dioxide and the possibilities for avoiding or reducing them is expressed.
