Inelastic proton scattering and particle-vibration coupling in /sup 115/Sn, /sup 117/Sn, and /sup 119/Sn

Inelastic proton scattering on the stable odd-A tin isotopes /sup 115/Sn, /sup 117/Sn, and /sup 119/Sn has been carried out at 18 MeV on isotope separated targets. Angular distributions were not obtained but, nevertheless, the individual spectra reveal a large number of strongly populated states in the energy region of the known octupole strength of the even-A nuclei, permitting several new (tentative) 5/2/sup -/,7/2/sup -/ spin assignments. General comparisons are made of the observed relative strengths with those obtained from other reactions populating the same final states, revealing a complex nuclear structure in the odd-A tins which is not understood theoretically.
