A laboratory study was undertaken in our institution to determine if radiation exposure could be reduced in pantomographic radiography without affecting image quality. Various types of rare earth filters were evaluated along with two radiographic screens and films. The results of our study indicate that exposure reductions of between 19 and 79% can be acheived without affecting image quality significantly.
